Securing
a safe to the structure
The
mounting and positioning of the safe is important and consideration should be
given to positioning to make it difficult to jemmy open eg a safe placed in a
corner with the lock closest to the wall would be more difficult to cut or
jemmy open.
The safe
must be bolted to the structure of the premises as follows:
Inspection
of storage facilities
Owners of
firearms must allow a police officer to inspect facilities at a mutually
agreeable time. Similar conditions apply to permits.
Transportation
of firearms
Owners of
firearms must take all reasonable precautions to ensure that when a firearm is
not in their possession it is kept in a place which will prevent unauthorised
access or use of the firearm.

which the Commissioner would consider reasonable in these circumstances
include:
Where
firearms must be carried in public or on public transport, the firearm/s should
be suitably concealed in a carry case or wrapped so as to be unobtrusive and
inoffensive to members of the public.
